Canyonlands National Park

After jumping through hurdles to get to Canyonlands National Park, we finally arrived and we got to explore the Green River Overlook, the Mesa Arch and the Aztec Butte Trail!

After getting our new camera, we made it to CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK! We drove a few hours south to a place called Courthouse Rock Campground! It was so beautiful there and we couldn’t wait to test our camera out! I wasn’t sure if this day would happen. We got a late start and then right before we arrived a big storm rolled in. It felt like God parted the Red Sea and the skies opened up and the sun was shining. This was actually our first trip to a national park with the RV! Our first stop was the Island In The Sky Visitor Center! The kids were so excited to get their junior ranger books and badges. Little did I know you have to first pick up the books, the kids fill them out, do a few activities, and then you return to get the badges from the ranger to then deputize them. It’s the cutest thing. Then went across the street to the Green River Overlook and the kids had fun doing a little “rock climbing”.

Next, we headed to the Mesa Arches! This was one of the biggest things I wanted to see in Canyonlands! We brought Scout along but didn’t realize most trails you couldn’t have dogs. Oops! The kids loved leading the way as junior ranges and they were so excited when they found cactuses and desert flowers that we had just learned about in their homeschool curriculum! I loved their excitement! Aren’t they so cute with their ranger badges!?

After that, we got to explore the Aztec Butte Trailhead which is about 6.5 miles south of the Island in the Sky Visitor Center and is about a 1.7-mile hike. Dan and the kids found a little “cave” on the trail and had to try it out! We practiced their safe climbing skills and canyon’s crab walk was too cute! If you haven’t watched that YouTube episode you have to see it! However, we almost forgot that Dan had to record a podcast episode so we had to cut it short. we had such a fun day exploring with our little junior rangers and I have to say, day 1 of really using our new @canonusa camera and I’m pretty happy with the pics 😍 What do you think? Did I do good? See behind the scenes of this day on YT and as always, thanks for following along!
